The necropolis of the Qutb Shahi rulers is a showcase of monumental architecture dating back five centuries. The domed tombs of the kings and queens from the kingdom of Golconda provide a natural backdrop for an hour spent learning about the lives, loves and intrigues of a medieval Deccan sultanate that was at once a hub of trade and commerce as well as a thriving center for the arts.
In this one-hour virtual walk through what is one of the best-preserved necropolises in India, we take a peek into the kings of the Qutb Shahi empire, as well as learn about their tombs and funerary practices. All you need is a device with a decent internet connection and an hour of time – and you’re all set to zoom back in time to the 1500s.
